Digital Artist Open Calls 2027: Grants, Residencies, Prizes and Exhibitions

Last checked: 25 September 2026
If you are looking for digital artist open calls in 2027, start with the deadline rather than the prestige of the organiser. The opportunities below cover digital art, generative art, AI-assisted practice, new media, video, interactive work and technology-led research.
Dates and rules can change. Always open the organiser's official page before submitting. Calls are grouped as Open now, Upcoming, or Review carefully so that a missed deadline or an unclear participation fee does not become a surprise.

Later deadlines in 2027
Aion Digital Art Prize
Aion Digital Art Prize accepts computer art, electronic art, multimedia, new media, AR, VR and AI-related work until 1 March 2027. It is open internationally with no age restriction. The entry fee is ¥3,000. Entirely AI-generated works are not eligible; applicants must explain how AI was used when relevant.
Arrival Gallery New York
Arrival Gallery's New York open call accepts digital painting, generative art, moving image, video, screen-based work and AI-assisted art. The deadline is 25 February 2027, with the exhibition scheduled for 12–14 March 2027. The page says selected artists receive the full format, fee and next steps after review, so confirm all participation costs before accepting a place.
Florence Biennale XVI
Florence Biennale XVI includes a Digital Art category covering 2D and 3D computer graphics, processed photography, computer-generated images, VR and AR. Applications are open until 31 March 2027 for the exhibition taking place 23–31 October 2027. The application itself is free and non-binding, while participation terms and costs are provided after admission.
Upcoming: prepare before the call opens
Infinite Island Art Festival opens on 1 June 2027 and closes on 25 September 2027. It will accept artwork concepts from professionals and newcomers worldwide. Around 20 selected concepts will be developed into interactive artworks with technical and financial support. The festival's first edition is planned for 30 June–30 September 2027.
How to choose the right open call
Choose the opportunity by outcome
- Choose a prize when your strongest work is already finished and you want recognition.
- Choose a residency when you need time, equipment, mentorship or research support.
- Choose a festival or exhibition when the work depends on an audience, installation or public context.
- Choose a conference or showcase when your practice is research-led and you can explain the project clearly in a short presentation.
Check these five conditions before applying
- Eligibility: nationality, age, location and career-stage requirements.
- Media fit: still image, video, code, installation, sound, VR or interactive work.
- Technical delivery: file format, live link, hardware, screen ratio, sound and installation needs.
- Total cost: entry fee, exhibition fee, travel, shipping, production and accommodation.
- Rights: documentation, promotional use, licensing, display period and copyright ownership.
Build an application-ready portfolio
Most digital-art applications ask for the same core materials:
- a short artist biography;
- an artist statement that explains the practice rather than the software alone;
- three to eight representative works;
- title, year, medium, dimensions or duration for each work;
- a reliable portfolio URL;
- a concise technical description for interactive or time-based work.
Your portfolio website should make the work easy to inspect on desktop and mobile. Use stable artwork pages, clear metadata, high-quality media and a direct contact route. A reviewer should understand what the work is, how it behaves and why it belongs in the proposed context without searching through social posts.
Calls that are already closed
Do not label these as open in a live 2027 list: the Future Generation Art Prize 2027 (deadline 19 July 2026), OSTRALE Biennale O27 (deadline 31 May 2026), and TOKAS International Creator Residency 2027 (deadline 16 June 2026). They can remain in an archive section until the next cycle is announced.
